Let’s be honest – who doesn’t love some cheesy breadsticks?! If only they could be delicious and healthy! Cauliflower breadsticks may be the answer! Here’s the recipe I use to make healthy, filling, and delicious cauliflower breadsticks at home.
- 2 cups of diced cauliflower or cauliflower pearls
- 1/4 tsp of oregano
- 1/4 tsp of basil
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup Mexican cheese blend (regular shredded cheese of your choice, if you want it more cheesy lean toward 1/2 a cup)
- One serving of egg whites (46 grams)
Let’s Get to Cooking
I start with preheating the over to 450 degrees. I then focus on making the cauliflower dry. I put my cauliflower (which is blended up and looks like snow) in the microwave for about 4 minutes. When it comes out, I lay it in a small towel or a few paper towels and try to get as much water rung out as possible. Then I add in the oregano, basil, cheese, and egg whites and mix.
I think put a little olive oil spray down on parchment paper on top of a cookie sheet and spread my crust. I try to make these a little thicker than the crust to resemble breadsticks.
I put it in the oven for 10-12 minutes until it’s golden brown. When they are golden brown I take them out and let them cool before cutting into strips.
Optional: You can add some “I can’t believe it’s not butter” spray on top or sprinkle a little more cheese as soon as you pull it out of the oven.
